On the 4th of March, the New Zealander Finn Hansen was awarded the first “Startup Visa “. He ceremonially received the visa from Secretary Fred Teeven (VVD).
This permit is designed to attract aspiring entrepreneurs from outside the European Union to the Netherlands. It is valid for up to one year. In that year, the budding entrepreneur will have the opportunity to start a company based on an innovative product or innovative service, under the guidance of an experienced facilitator.
The Startup Visa was one of 43 positive policy changes suggested by Anne-Wil Lucas in het Agenda #StartupNL in 2013 and has since become a reality.
The VVD is confident that it will make the Netherlands much more attractive as a hub for foreign startups and hopes many startup visa are to be awarded in the future!
